How to connect Mailchimp to your Squarespace Website?

Are you a MailChimp user? If you are this tutorial is for you.

While there are many different email marketing services out there many people are still using Mailchimp. In fact, this email marketing service can connect directly to your MailChimp account.

There are a few different places you can connect your mail chimp account to your Squarespace website. If you are looking to connect a different email marketing software you will typically need to get a code snippet from the software you are using like mailerlite, convertkit, etc.

  • You can connect any of your contact forms directly from Squarespace to your Mailchimp account

  • You can connect a Squarespace Newsletter block directly to your Squarespace account

  • You can connect the pop-up form from Squarespace directly to your Squarespace account

These are the steps for each of the different connection options. You will notice that the pictures will show that you can connect to Squarespace email campaigns, google sheets, or Zapier. We won’t be worrying about that in today’s post.

Before we get started if you are on a paid version of Squarespace you can have different email lists (or audiences in Mailchimp) If you are the free version you are limited to only one Audience.

How to connect a contact form to Mailchimp in Squarespace

  • Step 1: You’ll start by adding a new element within Squarespace and adding a form.

  • Step 2: Once you’ve selected the form element you’ll want to navigate to the Storage option. Within there you will see 4 storage options.

    • One: Adding an email

    • Two MailChimp

    • Three Zapier

    • Four Google Drive

  • Step 3: Click on the Connect next to MailChimp

  • Step 4: A popup will open asking you to enter your Mailchimp password. For this to work you will need to already have a Mailchimp account and already have your password

  • Step 5: After you enter your password you will need to Authorize Squarespace so make sure to select to allow button.

  • Step 6: You have now authorized Squarespace to connect to your site you have one more step. You need to select a list within Squarespace and decide if you would like a double opt-in option. If you select the double opt-in option keep in mind your user will get an automatic email from Mailchimp asking them if they are sure they would like to subscribe to your email list. Any email automation you have set up will not go out until they agree to the opt-in

The other two ways to connect to MailChimp within Squarespace follow the same exact steps, you just start in a different location.

Connecting a Newsletter Block in Squarespace to MailChimp.

You will add an element the same way and follow the same steps as above. The only difference is you will select the Newsletter element.

Select the Newsletter Block element on your Squarespace site.

To connect to MailChimp from Squarespace’s built-in pop-up form the steps to connect are very similar as above, but your Pop up form is in a different location.

The Pop-up form is located in your main tree navigation under Marketing. Once you are in marketing select the Promotial Pop-up option. Then select Action and you will see the same storage option as above. Follow the same steps we’ve already discussed. You can also checkout this short video

Things to keep in mind or be aware of when you are using Squarespace and MailChimp.

  • You need to connect each form and newsletter block you have on your site. To make this easier you can add your Newsletter block to your footer and it will carry over to all pages.

This homepage guide will help you decide what are the primary goals for your business/website. Once you decide that you will want to make sure your links match up with this.
